Practice your spelling as follows:

Read – say – cover – write – check

For example, if you are having difficulties spelling the word ‘receive’, you should follow the above process:

Step 1 – Read the word ‘receive’

Step 2 – Say the word ‘receive’

Step 3 – Cover the word ‘receive with your hand or piece of paper

Step 4 – Write the word ‘receive’ while you can’t see it

Step 5 – Remove the paper and check you have written ‘receive’ correctly

Keep a list of words you often misspell. You should keep this in an area where you can access them regularly, eg. in a notebook, a webpage or an online portfolio that you keep for your IELTS preparation.
